Weeks of March 4-16

Reading with John - he's really doing great!
Working on models of the planets.

Our finished planets hanging up in order above the school table.

Lots of the standard school work this week.  Plugging away at math lessons, spelling, language, and French.  We studied Jupiter this week; did an experiment showing the effect of hurricane type winds on particles and began putting together models of all the planets.  Our moon diary project continued with some good opportunities for viewing the moon.  Everyone enjoyed running more of our paper route with the nice weather and spent lots of time outside climbing trees and riding bikes.

Lily and Gabe started swim lessons this week.  They are really enjoying being back in the pool and like the Spring Break lessons which go everyday for two weeks.

Hello Jaime,

What a beautiful model solar system! I have never seen anything quite like it! The planets look great painted and with such detail. What and excellent job Lily,Gabe, and John did! It looks like they had fun with this and learned a lot.

What a nice opportunity for swimming lessons with the daily Spring Break sessions! I am glad that Lily and Gabe are back in the pool and building their swimming skills.

My apologies for not warning you that Larry was dropping by with the pillowcases on Tuesday. :0( He wasn't sure he was going to have time to swing by so I had arranged for him to call me on his cel if he had the chance to drop them off. I was going to then call you and give you a heads up. As it turned out, I had a call with a parent and he couldn't get through. I am glad that it worked out and you were home!

I have mostly organized the butterfly order for Castlegar. They have four families going in in on the order and were able to divide the classroom study kit which takes the cost down. What would you think of putting the butterfly idea on the Cranbrook facebook group to see if we can get a couple more families to share the costs of shipping? Would you be willing to have the package come to your house? With the larger classroom kit, we have to divide it up by putting food and a larvae in individual vials (rather than the petri dish). Is that something you would be willing to take on? We can chat about it after Spring Break.

I am glad that Lily, Gabe, and John were able to get outside last week and enjoy a bit of spring.
