Lily completed 6 math lessons this week including an Investigation into the geometric construction of bisectors. Gabe and John each worked hard at math with Gabe focusing on subtraction and John learning to count by 10s.

Gabe began reading from Christian Liberty Nature Reader 1 this week out loud. It was very helpful for me to hear where his reading is at although he's reluctant to be put on the spot and read aloud. He is working through his cursive workbook with very good handwriting. He wrote several summaries for science and history this week and completed a spelling and grammar lesson.
Lily completed a couple writing lessons this week and one of them happened to coordinate nicely with our science. She also worked on spelling and grammar. She has been reading Treasure Island (the original) and D'Aularies' Greek Myths. This morning, while working on our history portfolios, we listened to Greek Myths via booksshouldbefree.com.
Lily and Gabe completed their swim lessons last Friday. Although neither passed their level both worked hard, learned lots and had lots of fun. This week was a return to dancing and Judo, as well as bike riding.

Hello Jaime,
I enjoyed connecting by phone last week. Thank you for highlighting the learning that has been happening in your home. What a great picture of Gabe and John working at the blackboard!
It sounds like both Gabe and John have made further progress with their reading. I am impressed that John is already at page 55 when we had targeted page 50 for the term.
I look forward to seeing the summaries Lily and Gabe wrote at term end. They have been very busy with writing lessons, spelling, and grammar.
The booksshouldbefree.com website looks like a good one. What a great idea to multitask with audio material while working on portfolio pages.
It looks like you are nearing the end of Astronomy. Have you touched on constellations or is that coming up as part of Greek mythology?
I would like to send the photos of your Trojan horse and watercolor planet paintings to the TLA newsletter for consideration. Would that be okay?
Karyn
Absolutely, I think they'd really enjoy seeing their work in the school newsletter.
We started stars and constellations this week along with a unit study of Galileo all of which go nicely with the end of of Greek unit. Lily was excited to see that Galileo's education basically consisted of studying the ancient Greek philosophers and teachers.
